- Check the care label on your mattress. Your mattress may have specific cleaning do’s or don’t’s.
- Treat the stain as soon as possible. The biggest factor for increasing the likelihood of completely removing the stain is time (or rather, the lack of it). Get to the stain right away – the longer you wait, the more set-in and harder to remove it will be.

$90- Use cold water. No matter the type of solution you use, always make sure the water is cold, as hot water is another surefire way to make a stain permanent.
- Mix a solution. Mix a small amount of water with dish soap, baking soda, vinegar or detergent – all of which will help to loosen the stain and bring it to the surface. For set-in stains, use undiluted hydrogen peroxide.
- Blot, don’t rub. Dip a small portion of a washcloth into the solution and blot firmly to help loosen the stain. If blotting alone does not work, try scrubbing the stain with an old toothbrush.
- Vacuum the area. Blot the area with a dry towel to absorb excess solution, then vacuum the mattress to help lift and remove the stain (and the solution you used to treat it with).
